infected hangnail?!!?? HELP

So two days ago I was biting my nails & I had a hangnail. It hurt to try to bite off so I bit it off as much as I can (BIG mistake I know). It's on my thumb & is very tender to the touch. A little bit of pus has come out but not much. The side is reddish, hot, & throbbing. I soaked my thumb twice in warm water & salt for 20 mins twice, then poured hydrogen peroxide on it. I have it wrapped up lightly in gauge. My finger is swollen too. When I pored peroxide on it the first time, white stuff showed up on the opposite side, then went away. I poured it on again after another soak & the white stuff showed up in the same spot & was stinging too?? ve been looking it up online & people are saying it can get so bad that they would have to amputate fingers!!! I know I sound crazy but someone please tell me it's self cureable & that I'll be okay!

Try neosporin if that doesn't help you can go to the dr and theyll drain it i get these all the time and i usually just put neosporin on then a bandaid

It's probably Paronychia. It's an infection of the tissue around the nail that is common for nail bitters like me. I got it in my ring finger back in 2014. It's easily treatable. I would go to an emergency medical center not a hospital for quick treatment that isn't a hassle. They give you a check up then will put this disinfecting liquid on the finger. They take this scalpel like thing and push back the skin on the nail to push out the pus. They'll put you on antibiotics for like a week or so maybe 2 and, it'll be gone afterwards . No need to freak out though. Hope this helps😊. Get better soon.
