I'm a nail tech and all nail places aren't safe. Most discounted nail shops use MMA; which is actually a dental acrylic and it's not supposed to be used on nails. It's also illegal to use on nails in the USA. It can cause cancer, burns to fingers and can cause your natural nails to lift from their nail beds, finger tingling as well. The first indication is the sweet smell, the second is the cheap price for a full set/fill. Also if the containers aren't labeled that's a huge red flag. If in doubt ask to see the containers the products originally came in, if they refuse run like hell and don't look back.

It depends. ANY fumes can potentially be harmful while pregnant. It just depends on how much of a risk you're willing to take. Myself, I wouldn't do it.

I go to cosmetology school and the nail tech program is in the same building and I walk by or sometimes will sit in there a few times out of the day. Not only can I not stand the smell enough to sit in there for more than 5 minutes, but wearing those masks don't do anything. The masks are mostly to wear when doing nails so the dust from filing or drilling doesn't get in your mouth or up your nose. It doesn't block any smell. It is safe as long as it's well ventilated.

Why don't they make sense?? People that say yes acrylic is safe or yes gel is safe or no its not except for regular polish.
