Birth control and constipation
I recently started birth control two months ago (generic brand of ortho tricyclen). I'm 23 years old and started taking it because of my extremely painful periods (the last straw sent me to the hospital). I was pretty hesitant on taking birth control bc I'm pretty natural with everything that goes into my body, but I thought this was the best solution to my busy lifestyle right now.
Since starting the birth control I've been pretty irregular with my bowels. Lately I've been drinking smooth move tea before bed and have been able to go every morning, but I don't want to rely solely on that. I'm a vegetarian eating a pretty healthy diet with plenty of fruits veggies and whole grains. Is this something any of you have faced? Will this problem start to go away once my body has adjusted? Should I switch birth controls?
