I'm 36, about to be 37 weeks pregnant. My boyfriend quit his job and has not been looking for a new one. As a last resort, and also because I was tired of seeing him play on his damn PlayStation every time I came back from work, I made him sell it. Now he is all upset and will not talk to me, telling me he can't believe I made him sell it and that it was the only thing he had that was his.

What would you have done? I'm about to start my maternity leave and he was in no hurry to get a job! Now that his PS4 is gone, he's getting the idea. Was I wrong for doing that? I'm not sure why he's not understanding that our baby will be here in no time!

Well, he did ultimately sell it... You made him, yes, but he also could have said no and hid it or something. Personally, I don't think you are wrong... But it might not hurt to get him a new one... AFTER baby and AFTER he has a steady job. Make it seem like he made a sacrifice to support the ego... That is... IF he shapes up a bit.

No not at all. Hey quitting his job is crazy. My fiancé hates his job but still goes. He also got a second job since I'm high risk and can't work. He should do everything he can to make sure you are stable

I would have done the same thing. He needs to be an adult, and if having a baby on the way doesn't make him grow up, then maybe getting rid of his video games will be the kick in the pants he needs. 🙄

Okay, so I had this situation similarly! My husband quit his job early on in my pregnancy and I would get home from work and see him playing and the house be a complete wreck. Like no? It's not gonna work that way at all. So I took a pic of the Xbox put it on a yardsale page and tagged my husband in it. He had a job by the next weekend.. I completely agree with what you did. Sure, they can play! I don't care if he plays at all, it's the fact I'm working my ass off then come home to clean up after him and he's not trying to get a job. That's just not right. We're equals and I won't be treated like shit (:

Quitting his job= Not cool. Selling his possession= Also not cool. Sorry. It sounds like holding onto that relationship may end up draining you while you try to change him. Just seems like a familiar old relationship of mine, I could definitely be wrong. But if you want things to work out and you feel he starts trying to find work maybe you could buy him a used ps4 for Christmas? Obviously depends on your financial situation.
