are thank you cards a must?

We had my baby shower NOV 4th and we planned to send out thank you cards within 1 week but my dad has been in and out of the hospital and it just hasn't worked out to get them all ready and out. Is it too late to send them now? Are they necessary?

Definitely not too late at all. I do think they're a must.

You should try to find time to send them. People understand this is a busy time so it's okay if they're a little late. People went out of their way to celebrate and help you out with the gifts they brought the least you can do is send thank you cards

Not too late but I would try to get them out ASAP. I think they are a must. I've only taken a gift to one shower where I didn't receive a thank you note and I thought it was a bit tacky

It's not too late. Anywhere up to one month after I think is fine. They are not necessary but it's certainly polite to send them and it's nice to acknowledge gifts you have received.
