UTI !!!!

hi all.... im 35 + 2 today went to the gp for the routine checkup and was told that o have UTI and i am prescribed 500 mg of amoxil thrice a day...... is it safe to take this high dosage now i know my doctor is a doctor for a reason but i cant comvince myself to take 1500 mg in total per day.... can you share any experiences...
