Random child SSN/credit tip!!
Just remembered this awesome bit of advice I'd gotten and wanted to share (may only apply to moms in the united States).
As soon as you have your baby's SSN, consider freezing their credit (once you have a SSN, it can be stolen). Infant credit theft is a problem and people generally never know it's been compromised until the kid applies for a college loan or something (not like you'd have any reason to use their credit at, say, age five lol). Freezing credit is a free (or near free), super easy thing you can do to protect them for the future.
It is NOT something you can do in every state -not all automatically create a file- and I DONT know all the rules (my baby isn't born yet but I'll be on it when he is) so just keep on the brain that they do have a SSN that can be hijacked lol. Just remember to keep an eye on things for them, like you (hopefully) do for yourself 😘
(I'm NOT a financial or legal professional so it's always good to check with one! I just wanted to bring this topic up as a public service announcement and to get the convo going for other parents)
