Why would you propose to a man. Wait for him to propose to you. Clearly he's not ready for it, if he has not done it yet and nothing worse than rejection, embarrassment and there is no coming back from that. It's just nothing but awkward and eventually avoidance. A proposal is the one thing a guy gets to do that shows you and the world that he's proud to have you. That he locked you down to his buddie. That he's a man. That will be a kick to the ego on so many levels if you take that away from him. That he's not a man that you are the man in the relationship. Etc. Just be patient. You can talk to him about it. But let it come from him. Let his effort show his intentions. Maybe he's saving up for a ring. Maybe he's already in the process of asking your family etc and you are ruining the suprise. Maybe he's not ready for marriage and is still trying to figure out life. Who knows. Just enjoy the relationship. One day at a time. Whether it be a day or forever. I'm 38 my guy is 27. Been together 4 years. I'm in no rush to get married.  Just be patient. Men take longer to figure out life and what they really want. Do not give him an ultimatum or he will pick the other option simply because he doesn't feel pressured.
