progesterone suppositories and brown spotting?

Anyone have spotting with progesterone vaginal suppositories? I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and started spotting brownish blood/cervical mucus early this morning, I called my RE and nurse said most likely it was the progesterone suppositories, that they can irritate the cervix.  Has anyone else had this? This may be tmi but nurse told me to use the suppositories rectally until bleeding has stopped for a few days 😳 trying not to stress,   I have my 6 week ultrasound in a few days, just curious if anyone has had this kind of spotting and was told it was suppositories?
