What do you think is a good age for kids to have their own facebook? At the youngest

Facebook says you have to be at least 13 or 16 I believe, but children are still on there! I know of a 7 year old at the youngest that has her own Facebook! That's way too young in my eyes and I think 10 & 11 are way to young to be on there!

I don't think parents should have set age requirements for things. It varies from child to child. With my kids, we will get there when we get there and decided then.

I had a Facebook at 15, but my mom also made it very clear of what could happen if I talked to people I didn't know and also to be careful of what I posted. I will allow my children at 15 but that's also ONLY if I am sure they are mature enough to be on social media.

My younger cousins have facebooks, and I think it's a little crazy. I didn't get one till I was almost 16.

I wasn't allowed to have one until around 15. Of course, I was a bad kid and made one before then but I felt guilty so I told them and they made me delete it. 
Some of the shit I've seen on Facebook has definitely messed me up, so I'm probably not going to let my kids on Facebook until high school, and I'm going to check that they don't block me on it so I can see what they post. What they talk about is their freedom, but I also plan to be incredibly open to my kids.

I created one at 14 and hid it from my father, my mam told me to be safe and showed me articles on media safety, so I'll do the same with my child and allow it at 13. My niece had one at 6 and talked to everyone that in boxed her, she was far too young and didn't know what to do so I reported the account and it was shut down, she's now 12 and her father has opened one for her but monitors it daily and talked to her for hours and gave her lists of do's and don'ts online.

When you have to fake your age is too young. I got a Facebook account at 13, and Lord knows I was embarrassing. I live by the rule "don't post it if you don't want your grandma to see it".
