uti and sex?

Question

Can I still have sex if I have a uti??

I've been given medication to take over 3 days .

Should I wait them 3 days ...  and then have sex or is it ok to anyway ?

Also what prevents a uti

You can still have sex, however I can't imagine wanting to have sex with a UTI! 
UTIs are an infection of your urethra, not your vagina- so technically having sex (which involves your vagina, not your urethra) should be fine BUT when I have a UTI, everything hurts! However, if you're not in pain from it- by all means have sex!
UTIs are caused by bacteria from the anus getting into the urethra. This can happen from wiping the wrong way, sex can cause it, or your anatomy just might cause bacteria to travel easier. You can avoid UTIs by wiping from front to back, peeing after sex (this helps flush any bacteria that may have gotten into your urethra out) and also drinking plenty of water (again, this makes you pee more which helps flush bacteria out). 
Once you have a UTI, ways to get rid of it include: cutting sugar completely out of your diet for a few days because the infection feeds on sugar. Cut sugar out and you starve the infection. Also, drink cranberry juice, just make sure it has no sugar added to it (needs to be 100% cranberry juice, it will say in the ingredients of sugar is added or not). And drink an ungodly amount of water. Drink as much water as possible, then drink MORE water. Again, this flushes out the infection.

Do not have sex while you have a UTI. You may end up with a yeast infection. I'm sure it's already uncomfortable down there. Let your body rest.
