2 LAST NAMES!?!?!

Is it stupid to give your baby 2 last names? My sons father is in my life...but we've been on and off for over 5 years. He already has a son with his last name. He will be PISSED if I don't give baby his last name, and may refuse to help me financially after baby is born and I am unemployed until baby is atleast 6 weeks. There is also nobody to carry on my last name. We are are all girls. So ny last name will die out soon. So I am thinking of giving him both.

Nothing wrong with two last names at all but every situation is different. I wouldn't worry about him being pissed off about the last name. That's your baby too and you have the right to give your baby any last name you want. Considering you are not married or even in a committed relationship with him the decision is up to you. If he gets pissy and doesn't want to help you financially with his child don't worry that is what CS is for. You shouldn't have to feel blackmailed or even bullied into giving your son his last name. Using both last names is more than generous.

Nothing wrong with two last names. Not sure why you'd even give the baby his name if he's that immature that he wouldn't financially support his child because of a name.

You can hyphenate the 2 names but I'm not sure you can have 2 names as a last name without hyphenating. And no its not stupid.

Not stupid at all. I'm not in A on and off relationship but we agreed on both last names because we both made this child and want it to be proud of both names not just one my last name mean a lot to me and he knows that and he actually is the one who insisted on it.
