how were you diagnosed with SPD?

I am pretty sure I have SPD and did with my last pregnancy too. However I've never been diagnosed with it. I brought it up to my midwife as a possibility and she looked at me like I was crazy bc she said she's never heard of it. The heck? How did you get diagnosed with it? Did you get sent to chiro or somewhere?

I told my midwife about the pain I was having and she said I gave spd straight away and sent me for physio. I had my physio 2 weeks after and was given lots of advice on what to do differently and was given a belly support band. That's pretty much all they can do

I brought it up at my gp appointment at about 22 weeks and she said could be early spd or pgp as they call it now (pelvic girdle pain) apparently. Told my midwife at next appointment and she gave me a handout on how to minimise it (keep legs together as much as possible, no hoovering, no shopping, lifting etc) and said see if it reduces or we can look into a support belt or crutches. I started doing a bit of pregnancy yoga, got a support belt from ebay and luckily I think baby has moved upwards since then so it's largely cleared up. I'm 31 weeks now so aware it might come back again once bubba starts to drop x
