Tongue tie?

Do any other moms have experience breastfeeding with a baby who is severely tongue tied? The thing on the bottom of her tongue literally goes all the way to the end, like it looks like her tongue is split when she tries to stick it out because it is so tight. It seems like she's latching properly and I know for sure she is getting enough but for the first little bit of every feeding it is extremely painful :( I'm booking an appointment with a specialist for an assessment to see if they are going to make a cut and free her tongue a bit but I am super nervous. Just hoping someone else has some experience with this kind of situation!
