Shot after delivery to prevent hemmorhaging - good idea or not?
My hospital offers a shot of Synometrine (aka oxytocin or ergometrine) in the thigh after delivery to help prevent hemmorhaging. I'm writing my birth plan (hoping for natural, no meds) and wondering if I should do this and if it will have any impact on the baby through breast milk etc? I have a friend who gave birth at home and ended up losing a lot of blood after the baby was delivered, so not so quick to dismiss it.
