Open house baby shower?

I want to know your honest thoughts about an open house baby shower. The reason for considering this option is this will allow everyone we want to invite to be invited and not be overly expensive. It would be held at my mothers house.

Yes, do it!! I think structured baby showers with lots of games & endless gift opening that everyone has to watch are pretty boring for most guests.

That's exactly what we did @ our own house, we gave people a time range 11am to 4pm & said they could pop in anytime, for folks who brought gifts I either opened it before they left so they could see my reaction or I opened it at the end, we had lots of munchies not a full meal, we didn't do games, it was coed, & honestly so much less stressful then I see a lot of ladies dealing w/ on here. I really enjoyed mine so I say go for it! :)

I'm doing the open house type shower except having food and drinks as well and people can just eat throughout the time slot. I'm not a big fan of baby shower games but I like the idea of the headband making table! I haven't seen a lot of friends since getting pregnant so I'd love to just have a chill time and hangout with old friends. A baby shower is a perfect excuse to have people over especially since we just bought a new house but haven't had a housewarming due to finding out we are pregnant. I say if it's what you want, go for it!

That's an awesome idea. I love throwing parties and baby showers but I always hated that I felt like I couldn't give enough attention to all the people. This way it is throughout the day with multiple people. Seems less stressful. If I have another shower I think I'll do it this way.

I actually love this idea!! 
Basically, you don't have a set schedule or time frame for the party. It just flows, with people coming and going as they wish! No cheesy games, no big gift extravaganza, no pressure to keep people entertained for x amount of time...I like it!
