Toxic baby clothes
My daughter is three months old this Tuesday and has been wearing clothes from brands such as Carter's, Baby Gap etc. My original plan had been to buy organic clothing because of all the reading and research I had done about chemicals used in making baby clothing, but I have a very generous sister in law who bought my daughter enough clothes to last her until she is a toddler. She gives us a ton of clothes each time we see her. As much as I appreciate her kindness I am so uncomfortable with having my baby wear these clothes, especially more recently when I've been doing more reading about how clothes are treated. I do feel bad that I am considering donating all the brand new clothing and starting again with organic clothing but my peace of mind for my child needs to come first. I know that washing clothing can break down some of the chemicals, but not completely, even after multiple washes.
Any comments and advice are welcomed.
** thank you for all your comments ladies. I suppose it was just a bit of paranoia on my end. I think washing the clothes multiple times before she wears them will help to give me peace of mind.
