Confused over natural/medicated birth

So I keep reading that people talk about having a natural birth because they didn't have an epidural. Or that is was medicated because they did.

So what about all the other pain medication in between? Do these not count towards a medicated birth? I mean, I had entinox and pethidin, so was mine natural or medicated? I was at a midwife led unit so epidural was never an option, but I didn't do it completely drug free.

All the questions glow asks in polls relating to this never seem to give the option of other pain relief. Only natural or epidural. I personally don't consider mine natural because I did have some drugs.

It frustrates me so much that people jump straight to an epidural when other pain relief is available, and I believe the lack of mention is likely to blame.

So any clarity on the subject would be appreciated, it's all very confusing!
