Getting induced- pros and cons

Can anyone tell me about the advantage and disadvantage of being induced? Im 39 weeks and have not experienced any contractions yet. Id like to wait till labour pains come themselves but doctor wants me to get induced next week.i m worried if it might increase the risk of c-section
