How many of you have unfortunately experienced a miscarriage before?

According to Google, current statistics show that 20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, however it seems a lot higher in Glow/Nurture and I'd just like to see how accurate the statistics are.

It's a good idea to remember that a lot of women don't start using apps like this until after a mc. I didn't. It's like you feel helpless after the loss and need to feel supported and in control when trying again. The community and tracking helps that. But there was a poll for this recently on here and it did wind up being about 20%. I was always told 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in mc. I had 2 successful pregnancy in my late 20s and did not experience one until trying for my third. I'm now 31 weeks with pregnancy 4. So it would appear the more children you have or have tried for the more likely it is. There are many factors.

It probably seems a lot higher here because the population is really concentrated. If you think about it Glow consists of women either trying to conceive or are pregnant so the numbers are going to be skewed. The 20% represents a typical population in which this is not. Also, some people may not be reporting their miscarriages or know they had one so again the 20% may actually be higher.

I think the highest percentage of miscarriages happen before 7 weeks due to chromosomal issues so many women don't know but that's why the drastically are super high in studies. I had a chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks so really I wouldn't have known I was even pregnant had I not been trying to conceive and tested early. That being said, I'm 12 weeks today and still super duper nervous... But I think that just comes with the territory.

I have had 3 miscarriages in the past, all first trimester, I am currently 19 weeks with pregnancy number 4. My tests have all come back as unexplained.

When I had mine, my doctor told me that about a third of pregnancies end in miscarriage. That being said, she also stated that most people don't know they even had a miscarriage because it happened so early that they just think they got their normal period.

I have had two miscarriages. My first pregnancy resulted in a perfect and healthy baby boy, then I had the two losses (at 8 weeks and at 13, almost 14 week) and now I am almost 37 weeks pregnant. I have also read that 20 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage and that most women who experience one never have another, but I am genuinely curious about how up to date those statistic are because just among my circle of friends and co-workers I know many women who have had more than one miscarriage.

Fortunately I have not experienced one, this is my first pregnancy.
My sister experienced a missed miscarriage at 9w (baby was 7w and stopped developing)
My mom has experienced 8 miscarriages and the latest was at 17w. She has PCOS, endometriosis, and is RH-. She's only had 2 successful pregnancies

I heard it's 1 in 4 pregnancies end with miscarriage but once you hear a heart beat and past the 12w mark, your chances drop to about 1%
