induction date?

i'm due january 11th, and yesterday at my doctors appointment, she told me she wants to schedule my induction for January 23rd, which is like a week and 3 days after i'm due... is that normal? i'm a first time mom if that matters at all.

I'm due January 10th and this just scared me because I will be so depressed if I have to wait that long to have my baby. It's like I'm already full term, can you please come out already 😭😭

I will be induced on monday night i will be 39weeks and 3 days. I have been induced with all 3 of my pregnancies. No medical reason needed just ready to get it over and the doctor was okay with it.

I'm due Jan. 5th but I'm being induced tomorrow Jan. 3rd to get it over with. Guess it just depends on your doctor or hospital

I cant get induced due to previous emergency csection but I did ask the doctor if she wasnt here by her due date on Jan 12th if we go ahead and have a csection the next day on Jan 13th or that following Monday the 16th

Where I am the general rule is to induce at 42 weeks unless medical reason to do sooner. The reason is usually to do with the placenta starting to degrade and not being able to provide the support your baby needs as it grows inside.

Seems pretty normal, but not necessary. First time moms are usually 1-2 weeks late anyway. So if you don't want to be induced, I would definitely talk to her about it. My mom was 3 weeks late with my brother and she was never induced. Remember that a due date is really just an estimate and unless you have a decrease in fetal movement or have preeclampsia or other complications, you shouldn't need to rush the baby along! :)
