I have the mirena I iud and I just had my first period with it, it was super light but bright red blood, I also had bad cramping but it was off and on. What was your experience?

My cramps were pretty intense for a few months. It gets better. Your flow could be irregular, be prepared a couple days before. Your flow will also change for duration period. It has to reset itself. It's like getting your period for the first time. It sucks but it's so worth it. I haven't had one pregnancy scare since I've been on it.

Other comments on the Mirena. My biggest recommendation is you are active sexually, always use a condom. Otherwise you could get a PID, which isn't fun. I had a scare with that too. Always, always use a condom.

Also, remember to check your strings, if you can't feel them, wait a few weeks. If nothing, go to your healthcare provider to check.
