Spending New Years Eve in the Hospital
But it is so worth it!

Our little girl Kennedi Ann was born 12.30.2016 at 6:09am. She was 39 and 1. I was originally scheduled for an induction at 8am on the 29th. My doctor suggested an induction for insurance reasons and we accepted it. It also meant I would have an extra week of vacation to spend with her. We were getting ready to leave the house at 6:30am because we had to be early for paperwork. The hospital called and said they had no beds so to call at 11a. I called and they said to call again at 2p. I called again and they finally said to come on in! We were there at 2:30p. At 4 they decided to do cervidil. That has to be done twice at four hour intervals. My cervix was already dilated to 3cms and very thin. They placed the second and thought my water had broke. Sure enough, at 11pm, after many contractions, I felt a gush of fluid and my water broke on its own. My doctor wanted to wait until 8am to start pitocin and break my water at 12pm so I could get some rest. That plan went out the window. After my water broke my contractions really started to get stronger. They said I could get an epidural as soon as the anesthesiologist was out of the ICU. He came in at 3am and hit an artery (If I remember correctly) and my pulse skyrocketed with his test dose. He placed it again in the right spot and it spiked again. He decided to leave it but not give me the pump yet because he wanted the first failure to run its course so he could test again. Of course while having a contraction during the placement, my water broke big time all over the bed and floor. He got called to the ICU again so I had to wait until 4am. They checked my cervix and I was now at 4cms. Once the epidural got started I went from 4cms to 10cms and ready to push in an hour. I pushed for one hour and baby girl was here! I only needed pitocin while pushing because my contractions were too far apart while they were two minutes apart prior to pushing. Baby girl was 6lbs 5.8ozs and 19inches. She is doing alright with breastfeeding but isn't getting enough and has some jaundice to deal with. We will likely have to supplement with formula until my milk comes in. I am literally the happiest girl in the world. ❤️❤️❤️
My phone is scratched and there is no dot on her nose.
I forgot to add, I got a second degree tear and am so afraid to poop lol
