My daughter has had a problem with spitting up since birth. I have had an over-production of supply since then as well... I have been to see a lactation consultant, where she told me she wanted me to try reposition, which helped for the first few weeks to a month. While at this consultation, she told me she wanted me to go from 6-7 pumps per day, to 1-2 pumps per day. (The reason as to why I had started pumping so many times right away is due to me being the primary money maker in the house. I make more money than my husband, and also carry the insurance for us as well. On top of it all, paying for daycare before any other bills... i.e, - student loans, credit cards(all of which are mine, since I am the one with the degree), then the home bills.)

I told her that wasn't possible since I needed to build my supply up for when returning to work... since she only does visits by initaition of prescribers, I cannot just call her to ask her any kind of questions, and I try not to bother our primary physician as much as possible, seeing as how for the first 3 months of my daughters life, we were in office once a week- to multiple times per week due to the spit up issue, along with illnesses she endured as well. We have been on ranitidine to try and reverse/correct the spit up issue, which seemed to work great at first, then wouldn't, and back to square one when she would start profusely spitting up again... we have tried increasing her dose as she would start to gain her weight back,( while she was sick with rsv symptoms, viral bronchitis, and finally a double ear infection, she started to lose quite a bit of weight). So as her weight started to increase, so has her dose of ranitidine.

Her Dr. Has said that if the ranitidine did not work, we would go another route and try omepraze. Her father and his parents are under the impression that she has lactose intolerance and thats the reason why she keeps spitting up.

I being in the medical field have started to get under the impression that something more serious is going on, and that she might require surgery...

I am so scared of either option, due to the idea that I will have to stop breastfeeding. That is not something I want to even consider. I breastfed my son until he was a year old, and would love to be able to so the same with my daughter, if not even longer.

Help- what can I do. What should I do. My mind is going stur crazy!
