sex on implant after 4 days

I had the implant inserted in my left arm last Wednesday the 28. Since than I've had cramps and pain in my sides, and on Sunday New Years it was my husband's Birthday so I gave him a Birthday sex which he pulled out because I don't like The messiness of sex. During the whole time I was spotting, and we discovered this after he gave me a napkin to clean myself with it freaked him out cause he thought I was on my period because he doesn't like sex while I am on my period. Anyway I did some research the next day saying I had to wait 7 days for the implant to work since my doctor did not inform me with this information and I had sex 4 days later is there a possibility that it' started working before 7 days since I had spotting?
