Should fertility treatments be covered under Medicaid?

To me, if you can't even afford proper health insurance or are living in poverty, it's reckless and irresponsible and selfish to be trying to have a child.

Since a lot of regular health insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments I'm not sure Medicaid should be required to.

I think anyone having fertility challenges that isn't covered by insurance is going to disagree with you. I think it's a medical issue and therefore medical coverage should cover it. Period. Just because someone is poor doesn't mean they want a child any less. At least they want a child in your scenario. Plenty if people can't afford to have children, still do, and then don't want to be a parent. And those people get assistance. So we should only take care of the people that didn't want kids?!

This is not fertility related, but I disagree with what you're saying.

I don't believe I shouldn't be able to have children because I can't afford my sons chemotherapy drugs out of pocket. 15 units of one medication cost the insurance $8,000. Another medication he has to have is $1,100 a shot because he's allergic to the single dose.

Anyone who thinks you shouldn't, they obviously have no clue what they're talking about. So I can't have more children just because I can't afford $1300 in medications every month for my one daughter? (She is a liver transplant recipient.)

Fertility treatments are so expensive so as I can afford another child I can't afford both fertility treatments and saving up for a another child I pay for my ins. And I think it should be covered..

That's ignorant. I can't afford $200 everytime I go to the damn doctor and then hundreds in prescriptions every month and that is my regular doctors and was my regular prescriptions. Much less thousands of doctors to have a baby. I can't even get on Medicaid because my husband "makes to much" he makes 450 a week on a good week it varies. We have bills to pay too!  So yes it think it should be on Medicaid because just because you have government insurance doesn't mean you are poor and irresponsible.
