can a baby survive born 26 weeks ?

Asking just because I'm currently 26 weeks along and all day I've been having contractions and cramps ,... I'm hoping it's nothing but I'm kinda scared ?

In short.... yes. I actually have a friend who just delivered at 26 weeks. The baby is still in the NICU (8 weeks later) and will likely remain for at least another month. It's been a complete roller coaster. The NICU is the most wonderful place and the scariest place you will ever know all at the same time.

HOWEVER!! If you really feel like you are have true contractions you need to go to the ER (maybe your hospital has a separate Prenantal ER, mine does) right away. There is medicine they can give you to stop labor. Every single day inside is crutial for baby. Don't risk it.

My nephew was born at 25 weeks and he just celebrated his 7th birthday a couple months ago. Medicine and technology are amazing now days and the chances of survival are very good. Still hard obviously, but it is possible.
