How often to pump?

My baby is 4 months old and eats every 3 to 4 hours during the day and once over night after sleeping 6 hours.  I usually pump just once over night. How often are you suppose to be pumping? I'm a FTM so this is new to me.

It depends on your situation. I went back to work after 6 weeks and wanted to get a freezer stash started. To do this, I pumped a couple times a day and then once at night after his feeding (like 2-3am or so). After 2 or 3 weeks I dropped the middle of the night pump session (mostly because i just wanted to sleep). Once I went back to work, I pump 4 times a day. Once at 5am, 10:30, 3:30, 9ish. I've been lucky in that I produce approx 54oz a day so I have a large freezer stash (close to 1,600oz) but if you don't need that much, don't pump too much! Just figure out what works for you! You'll body will respond!

When my baby was 0-3months I would pump every 2-3hrs max. Now he is 5months n I pump every 4hrs, if max 6hrs but I try my best to pump every 4 so my milk supply won't drop!
