Induction Encouragement Stories?

I'm a week late and my doctor is going to induce me tomorrow. I'm scared for labor with pitocin, and I'm even scared to meet my baby. What if I'm really awkward with her and don't know what to do? What if everyone keeps asking me how happy I am when I just feel anxious? Anyone else share my fears before birth?

So I was induced in December as baby was a week late... They used the gel (the name in which I forget), started in the morning at 1 cm, they sent me home after an hour to make sure I was okay, and I was to return a few hours later as they cant do anything until something like 6 hours after putting it in. Went home and started to have contractions after I showered and went to lay down.. they were 2.5 mins apart and a minute long, off to the hospital I went. I had jumped up to 5cm dilated in a few hours. They admitted us and then by the time I got an epidural (maybe an hour after being at the hospital), I was 9cm dilated and ready to push... It was all really smooth. I just highly recommend getting an epidural if you are going to be induced. I was able to joke around with the nurses and wait patiently when they asked me to...

I didn't feel this overwhelming sensation of love right off the bat... It took time. Ask questions when your in the hospital to clarify anything and everything you can. "Can you show me a proper swaddle, can you help me with different latches etc (if you breastfeed), all sorts of questions you can think of"...

And remember, there is always information out there for you to help you... The first little while is tough, but it gets easier. Its okay to cry, and do not be afraid to reach out for help if you need it.

I was also afraid of the pitocin. It wasn't as bad as I'd anticipated. It started hurting more after my water broke. After an hour I opted for the epidural. I was at a 6 at that point. Baby boy was born 7 hours later and thank god for the epidural. I was able to save my energy. The contractions just felt like tightening, even when the pitocin was turned all the way up.
I thought I would be awkward too. It's like a switch flips once that baby comes out. You just know what to do ❤️

I was induced with all three of my kids and all were great experiences. 1st was at 40w with Doctor breaking water, then pitocin. Epidural at 5 cm. 5-hour labor. 2nd was at 38w with doc inserting a cervix ripener, water broke in its own, then started pitocin. No time for epi, 3-hour labor. My last baby, I had foley inserted. Had medication to sleep. Woke up, foley fell out. Had epi, started very low pitocin dose. Delivered 3-hours later. I had a hard time as a FTM with bonding. But no issues with my other 2. Lean on your support people, your nurses etc... They are there to help you through it all, physically and mentally. Once it's over, the pain goes away, you get your body back and you move into motherhood. It's never 100% easy, but you will adjust and all that matters is that you and baby are healthy!

I was induced and had a great experience! Once my water was broke by my doctor, the contractions got intense almost immediately, so I got my epidural. Easy breezy until it was go time! Good luck doll!

I was also so anxious! When my doctor said she was going to induce me by a cert date I cried I was so upset if been really wanting to try a natural birth a d knew I wouldn't be able to if I had pitocin. I was induced at 9am and didn't feel the contractions very strongly till they broke my water around 330 I labored a couple hours before I asked for an epidural around 5/530. I knew it could take a while to get it so I asked when my pain got to about a 7. It was 7 before I got my epidural! It wasn't as bad as I imagined, I was not progressing very fast so they upped my pit and baby didn't like it, she was actually too relaxed! I had oxygen at 1 point I don't remember why. I used the peanut ball to help dilate and bring baby down, this was awesome and worked. Eventually the epidural started wearing off and it was around this time I was fully effaced and at a 9. I gave myself 1 more dose because at this point I didn't want to feel any tears. They ended up stopping it while I was pushing so I could feel the contractions better. That was really helpful and by 614 I had my baby girl! Just stay positive and roll with it hopefully you get awesome nurses like I did, we were actually laughing and joking most of my labor!

I was induced a week early for toxemia. I went in Thursday night and my doctor put in the foley bulb to get me to dilate to a 4 and they gave me something to help me sleep that night. I got up to pee at 1 and the bulb fell out. The next morning I showered and went to a labor room and got started on pitocin then the doctor came and broke my water by 12 I was a 5 and I got the epidural and they used peanut pillow things on each side and when I was checked at 4:30 it was time to push! It hurt a little getting the foley bulb put in but that's the only bad part of it. Good luck 🎉😊

I cant say i was induced. Also i know a lot about babies since my sister was a rainbow baby and 16 years younger and i had to help a lot with her. Also helps working at a daycare.

However the nurses are there for you. Ask questions.

If anything does happen just know the people in icn Are there to help you as well.
