Would be you recommend getting an IUD?

Hi! Does anyone use an IUD for their birth control method? If so, would you recommend it?

I have the paragard copper iud, placed a little over a year ago. I chose the copper because I didn't want something with hormones in it, I dont like messing with my body's physiology too much especially since I may have some hormonal imbalances already. Of course everyone has different pain tolerances but I did not have a problem with placement of the iud, the first day or so I had really bad cramps and aches while my body adjusted and then my period was a little heavier/longer for a few months but was never irregular and eventually stabilized. I love not having to think about birth control, I love that it doesn't mess with my cycle or hormones so I still feel "normal", I love how effective it is. It was also covered completely by my insurance so that was a plus. Getting it removed next week so we can start trying for a baby but I will definitely get another one afterwards, highly recommend!!

Just got mine put in today!!! It was very painful for a few moments when they put it in and I've been having some pretty bad cramps all day, but they're supposed to go away soon. Overall I think it's gonna be worth it to not have to worry about birth control again for 3 more years! Plus I hear this is the most effective method to prevent pregnancy!

I loved mine, I had a Mirena one for a year & a half, no side effects, lighter shorter less painful periods, might have a new one put in after I have my baby girl next month

I've had the Skyla for 4 months now and I really like it. Worry free, the spotting and cramps are really aggravating to begin with but after about 2-3 they pretty much stop and it's amazing. Don't have to do or remember anything for 3 years.

I had the Skyla and I loved it. It's the smallest one they make and because I haven't had children yet, my doctor said it was the best choice for me. It's good for up to 3 years... i had mine for 2.5 and just had it removed.

I had the mirena iud for 7 years and loved it! I never had a period on it so that was definitely a plus. I plan on getting it again once my baby is born. 
The only downfall I had with it is my doctor cut the string way too short so when it was time to remove it the doctor thought they'd have to do surgery. Luckily they were able to get it out without surgery. That didn't happen when they removed my first one, though.
