Are epidurals worth the worry?

I'm also curious. I'm thinking of trying no medication just because I hate needles and the epidural scares the crap out of me. I know most people love them. I'm just scared.

I didn't have one. I am phobic of needles and worried about the side effects. Labor is tough I'm not going to lie, but it's also totally possible to get through it drug free. Good luck guys!

I never wanted an epidural, however my planned homebirth turned into a hospital transfer where they needed to give me the epidural to relax my body so baby could rotate (she was acynclitic). I used to be scared of the idea of a needle going into my spine, but when it's necessary it was a life saver! My only problem was that I was allergic to one of the drugs (sufaden) and was constantly throwing up the last four hours. :/

I think it hurts a lot 🙈 even though I haven't tried it..bec my first son was born without medication and I'm planning on doing the same with this baby, I think is faster ..also I've seen videos on yt and it looks like it hurts a lot!!!

It all depends on your pain tolerance. I would suggest trying without one and see how it goes. Just tell your Dr that you want to try. I will be honest and tell you that yes I had three. My pain tolerance is non existent. The first one was wonderful but the second and third only helped up until pushing, then I felt most of it.
