What are some ways to go natural without cutting my hair off?

Ok so I did both. I cut my hair off my senior year in high school but was still getting relaxer Idk why that was dumb af. But during my freshman year in college I decided to stop getting relaxers and I bought curling enhancers and texturizers to manipulate my hair and eventually my natural coily tight curl were coming through. I started cowashing and deep conditioning my hair weekly w natural hair products and never put heat on my hair. (Besides getting it professionally straightened twice a year) And 2 years later I'm fully natural and will never go back!

I transitioned w/braids. Not intentionally. I didn't decide till after a couple years to go natural -I was tired or taking out the braids

Depends on the condition of the hair.  If you're hair is severly damage then I'll suggest a haircut.  If its not so damage then it is possible to recover your natural hair , but this will require at a lot of PATIENCE and DETERMINATION!!!!!  The first step of hair recovery is stop using heat styling tools (flat iron, blow dryer, curling iron,  etc) ,  chemicals (relaxers, bleach, and hair dying),  and avoiding tight hair styles.  The second step is deep conditioning at least once a week (there is a lot of diy hair treatments on YouTube or naturallycurly.com). Also,  start reading the Ingredients on hair products because some ingredients are actually bad for your hair like sulfate, parabens, etc...(shea moisture is a good natural organic hair product).  Third step is to be patient on your hair journey because it  is going to be frustrating and time consuming.  Keep repeating these steps everyday and trim at least every 3 months until your hair condition improves.  Hope this helps love (:

I did the transition where i didnt do no cutting i just let my hair do its natural thing but i wore hairstyle to help new growth grow back fast like braids it pushed that elaxed hair back

I did a big chop but what my sister did was she stopped getting relaxers and cut off some but not all of the relaxed ends. She started using products specifically for curly hair so that way the curls would come out better. Weave and/or braids and other styles can become your best friend. Put some in for awhile then take it out and wash and trim your hair, then put more in. You'd be surprised how quickly your hair will grow.

Weave! It helps a lot when transitioning or having a protective style. When I first did my big chop I immediately began getting twist until my hair was at a length I was comfortable with.
