Need my 7 week old to sleep without me!

My baby had a little bit of a setback sleeping in his bassinet this week. He just went through a 6 week growth spurt...He's 7 weeks today and he does have a bassinet next to our bed by me. He'll be so tired and sleeping very soundly on me and when I go to put him down he immediately wakes up and will eventually cry..sometimes not just a little cry, but a breakdown kind of cry. I know it's said not to let your baby "cry it out" but I just don't feel comfortable sleeping with him in my bed or on my chest. I know he's young but feel as though he's developing the need to HAVE to sleep by me. I do try swaddling which sometimes he loves but other times not so much.
