Working out while pregnant

Hey ladies! 
This is my first pregnancy & I'll be 13 weeks on Monday. My OBGYN said that I can keep working out and doing everything I was doing as long as I feel ok. I asked about certain exercises and she said just to listen to my body.. 
Everything still feels fine, but everywhere I look there are articles on not doing crunches/planks/sit ups etc after the first trimester. 
Has anyone had experience with this?! What advice did your doctors give? What exercises did you modify? I just want to make sure I'm not going to end up doing something harmful to the baby or myself.
