Sick kids!!!

This kind of a rant. I am really bothered, but I know it's ultimately my fault.

A good friend of mine has 3 kids at home and she works at an elementary school. Each one of them is at a different school collecting different germs and illnesses. They are always sick in that house! Her and her hubby throw an annual white elephant party. It's always a blast! Well, this year half the people didn't show up because they were sick. Her youngest was quarantined to her bedroom because he woke up with a fever. She didn't tell me this till we arrived. She said they Clorox'd the house and he's been in there all day. Well her middle child said, half way through the night that she didn't feel good. She continued to play with my 5 yr old all night. She woke up with a fever, achy, congestion and cough. They took her to urgent care and they said it's not the flu.

Here's what bothers me...

I have a 4 month old with a heart condition. The flu could kill him! And would most definitely put him in the hospital. She said she took their daughter in and they said it was just a cold. I asked if they actually tested for the flu. She didn't answer that question. She kind of danced around it. Her daughter is still miserable at home and her son still has a fever.

The good part! My 5 yr old woke up this morning with a "headache in his throat". Ugh... He doesn't have a fever... yet. But I kept him home from school just in case. I don't want to spread this "cold" around to the other kids in his school. I told my friend that if it was the flu, I could get my boy in for that Tamiflu stuff and kick it right away. But she still maintains that they told her it was just a cold. And she says they tested her. I get the feeling that they just examined her and sent her on her way.

I told my husband that I was worried about bringing the baby to this party and he told me it would be fine. I'm kicking myself now. My baby's cardiologist said that if he ever gets a fever I need to rush him to the er. And to skip a regular er and go to a children's hospital. I am an hour and a half from the closest children's hospital.
