Pregnancy and Period

I'm wondering if any ladies here have still had a period even when pregnant? I've heard stories that some women have a normal period and don't even realize they're pregnant until the symptoms start showing.  Or, the HCG level is so low your body still has a period because the hormone hasn't increased enough to cease your lining from shedding. Anyone else heard or been through this?
