Personally if my last name wasn't so long I would ask my husband to use both our names.

I think it depends on what the couple decides. I disagreed with the statement simply because when I get married and have kids, I will have no problem or objection about my kids having their dad's last name. But, I can see why someone or a couple would agree with this statement and that's completely fine...both sides make sense to me.

You don't have to carry anyone's name, nor does your child, but I guess some people are trapped in tradition.

That photo was made assuming it was against the law for a baby to take the mother's last name. It's optional tradition, not manditory. And anyways, why this 'well I worked harder so it's all mine' mentality? C'mon now.

I think if you're married and have your husbands last name, yes the baby should have that name. If the dad isn't in the picture or in general isn't the main guardian, not he baby should not have his name.
Of course maybe you're married and you choose to keep your last name, then I think maybe the baby should take both, even though you gave birth, it's not just your baby.

It's a tradition that you can simply just choose not to follow. Hell, there are even men who take their wife's last name. People might raise a brow at it but whatever.

It's tradition - I'm 100% supportive of my children having their dads name. Because I also have his name as his wife.

Hey, I didn't make the kid alone and I won't be raising him alone. A name is a pretty trivial thing to be upset about. The father should have something to show for his genetic and parental contributions.
