how much baby food?

How much baby food do you ladies give your LO? I'm just starting and wondering how much I'm supposed to give him? Only one spoonful of the small little baby spoon??? Is that all I'm supposed to give? What if my LO wants more? What if I give too much? How many spoonfuls of the little baby spoon can I give? He spits it some of it so I'm not sure.. I'm a FTM sorry if it's a dumb question lol. I just don't want my baby's tummy to ache or him to be constipated..

So my son is 5 months. He still wakes up at night, so usually gets a bottle at around 4am or 5. Then again at like 7 or 730. Then a little while later ill give him oatmeal with 2oz of formula. Then bottle. Then for lunch a veggie or fruit. Then bottles for the rest of the night. My son is a big guy tho so he usually eats 4-6oz at a time. I also try to give him food before hes starving, because once hes starving hes less likely to sit and wait for the food and will just scream.

I started with 2x baby spoons of baby rice a day for a few days. Then introduced vegetable purée. He still has all his milk feeds. I just give him it about an hour or 2 after his bottle. My boy hasn't got a big appetite & he's really knows when he's full & doesn't want anymore so I let him let me. He's very light for his age, so I just go with what he tells me. But I've seen an increase in his weight since introducing foods, & he was showing all the signs apart from drinking lots, which is said to not really be a sign to start on solids xx

Always give baby milk (or formula) first. Then 30 mins to an hour later give some food. Just a teaspoon or 2 at first. Milk should be their primary source of nutrition until a year old.  But I agree, if baby is pushing it out with his tongue, he isn't ready yet. You should wait until they start to pull it back with their tongue...it's an important developmental milestone. You should also wait until baby can sit unassisted and is at least 6 months old

to begin with, a tea spoon is enough, just to try. then add more, but solids in general should not be a single meal before they reach 6 months of age, so don't give too much before milk. 
i usually give my boy 2-3 baby spoons before milk, and some more if he wants after he finishes his bottle. 
but usually he's done eating when he's done the bottle, he just turns his head away. 
and yes, if your baby pushes the food out with the tongue, then he or she is not ready to eat solids, which doesn't mean you should stop trying now and then; the tongue reflex will disappear eventually.

Is he spitting it out or pushing it out with his tongue? If the latter, he might not be ready. That's a reflex that prevents choking.

And you feed them until they're done. They'll let you know by turning away from the spoon or, in my baby's case, throwing it at you.
