when is your 1st MD appointment?

I am 4 weeks today and my EDD is 9/26. I just moved to a new city and I called 2 OBs both said they would see me earliest 8 weeks. Is this normal? I thought a blood test or a preliminary appointment would be the norm. Is this what you ladies are experiencing as well? Going crazy having to wait another 4 weeks to confirm if this babe is healthy!

How can they give you an EDD of the 9/26 if your only 4 weeks pregnant? Just curious as I'm 8wk 5 days and mine is the 29th sept.

8 weeks is about right. My first little is 9 months old and my first Ultrasound with him was at 10 weeks. With this one I had my first appointment last week at 8 weeks.

My EDD is sept 12 & they wouldn't book the  first doctors appointment until I was 8 weeks. I understand it is because insurance only covers a certain number of ultra sounds and at 8 weeks they can measure your EDD most accurately (I measured 5 days more along than I thought!) It was such a long wait- but worry it 😊 congrats

We had our first scan and appointment with our first at 8w4d and this go around it will be 8w2d :) pretty normal. You won't see much of anything else any earlier.

Call back and request bloodwork. There's nothing stopping them from writing you a prescription to check hcg and progesterone levels. My midwife doesn't usually schedule until 8 weeks but since I had a miscarriage in September, I asked and they said I could come in at 6 weeks but I'm doing bloodwork first to determine levels. I also have an EDD of 9/26! Keep us updated!!

I think 6-8 weeks for the first appt is pretty normal. Then they will be able to check the heartbeat and growth to verify due date. Congrats :)

My EDD is Sept 29th and my first appointment is March 1st. This is normal. I had my first appointment with my first child at 10 weeks. The longer you wait the more likely you'll be able to hear the heart beat.
