Pregnant and a sprained ankle sucks!

Jessica
I slipped on the ramp of our deck yesterday on a mini piece of ice (Maine winters are getting annoying). I was able to catch myself but my ankle took the beating. Nothing is broken but hotdog is it swollen and bruised. Nothing is worse than hobbling around the house and having to keep getting up to pee 2,000 times a day. I'm 12w4d and this is brutal. The dr I saw at the ER said they don't reccomend crutches for sprains because moving it is actually more helpful and also crutches put you at a higher risk to fall. They checked the baby even though I didn't hit the ground, I just tweaked my ankle because it is protocol which I was thankful for. Nice healthy heart rate.
My only worry is I had to have an X-ray to ensure I didn't break anything. The X-ray tech was awesome and said that their protocol was to double shield but she always triple shields anyone who is pregnant. I see my midwife in a couple of weeks and they checked the baby after the ultra sound. The ER doc said that it was the furthest away from my growing belly. I still feel a bit of guilt that I had an X-ray.
