Has anyone gone through getting child support?

I'm pretty sure I'm about to have to file child support on my ex due to him just not providing for our daughter when he works and is capable. Anyone care to give me a rundown of the Court proceedings ? I'm in the state of Alabama if anyone has gone through it here. TIA! ❤️

I'm in New York so it's probably different but here you go in and fill out a form. They then contact you with a court date. They figured it out based on his income for support and our income compared for extras (like school things and insurance). The support does go back to the day you file so even if it's a few months for you to get an actual court date you get all of it back.

I'm in MN but we went to court for a custody agreement and I also filed for child support then. After that the county took care of everything.

I did it but I set it up so it goes through Child Support Enforcement to get the payments so I don't have to argue with him about it. They automatically send him to back to court if he doesn't pay for it. I don't need to keep in touch with him about payments, it's all in the system.
