My mother is driving me crazy!
This is my first baby and this will be her first grandchild. Understandably, she is extremely excited. So much so that she is buying a tonne of "cute" baby clothes.
We have extremely different taste and I've asked her not to purchase anything without showing me first. This morning she messaged me showing clothes that she had purchased which are frankly hideous. I have told her that there not my style and that if she wants to purchase clothing for my child that she show me first and to follow the "no faces" rule I set months ago.
No faces meaning literally that, if it has a face on it please don't purchase it. Purely so she would buy plain and simple clothing that would be more my taste. For some reason this has bothered me more than it usually would. I feel like I should be grateful but at the same time, I won't be putting my child in clothing I think is ugly.
I've had to constantly remind her of the "no faces" rule and it feels like she isn't listening to me. She is so absorbed in her own happiness of becoming a grandmother that she is ignoring my own wishes.
How can I communicate with her that if she wishes to purchase things that she needs to run it by myself first or purchase a gift card if she feels like "gifting" something to me.
I understand this may sound selfish, but it is truly bothering me. This is only one of the issues I'm having. I just feel like me having a baby is just another excuse for her to try and take over and do things her way.
