Inducing labor at home

I went to my doc (at 36 weeks) and she told me that I went from absolutely nothing to a wide 1cm and 50-60% effaced. So she feels it could happen sooner then my due date. I've kinda had the feeling like I wanna try and make it happen sooner. What's everyone's opinions on that. :) currently 36w3d
