Do We Need 2 Car seats?

Robin
I am due at the end of April and it's time to start making decisions! Ack!
My husband works a normal 9-5 sort of job and I work afternoons/evenings. We aren't set on our childcare yet, but are looking to find a sitter since we only need a couple hours of coverage a day.
My question: do we need one car seat for each car or do you think that we could get one and switch it back and forth?
As a bonus question, do you prefer the infant seats or the convertible? I'm looking forward to wearing my baby a lot, so I'm not sure we really need the seat to be super portable...

Infant seat with 2 bases! It's nice when baby falls asleep and you're out and about to be able to get the seat out to avoid waking baby up. Not to mention its kind of a pain to only have one convertible that you have to take out to switch cars. I bought a convertible once baby was too big for the infant seat. It's worked well for us!

No, we actually ended up buying 2 convertibles - one for each car. Much easier that way!

Do you switch your convertible between cars now?

Get two bases for the car seats and once baby outgrows the infant then get two

2 car seats were convenient for me. Apparently grabbing the car seat when ever you leave a child was difficult with my family. Someone always drove off with it and left me stranded with no seat. So it made sense for me to have 2.

You could do one car seat 2 bases. I don't have personal experience on this yet lol but I saw plenty of parents do this while I worked at a daycare, one would just drop there child of with the car seat and the other would pick them up.

We just bought one infant seat and an extra base for my husband's truck. Easier to haul the baby around in my opinion 🙂

Yes it worked great! Going to do the same with our second coming in March.

I agree with the infant seat. It's nice if the baby is sleeping or it's raining.

I love the infant seat he can stay sleeping and I just toddle him around without waking him up its amazing. I also bought a second base so I didn't have to buy a whole new seat :)

So this is hard for me to answer. Yes. We have two car seats. But we also have twins so...😂 two car seats are spendy enough. We did not buy a set for each vehicle. We just switch them if needed.
