I read this as feeding from one side per nursing session, rather than feeding from both, not preferring one side or that other. So if that's what you meant...

There's a lot of debate in the breastfeeding world about feeding from one side per session vs two. My daughter never seemed satisfied when nursing both breasts each session and at the time I didn't have a lactation consultant available to me, so I did some troubleshooting on my own. You can look up hindmilk vs foremilk and read up on the differences there. That helped me in deciding to try just letting her nurse from one side per session and switching at each session, and for us it resolved our issues. We had a successful nursing relationship for 15 months. Everyone is different of course.

For some reason my son just completely refused the left side. He barely even took it from the right, which is why I had to eventually switch to formula. But if I put him on the left one he would scream bloody murder.

Mine prefers the left, but I think that's my fault more than it is his. For some reason, I can't hold him at a good angle on that side.
