Is my roommate hitting my dog?

Hey y'all so I need your opinions. My fiancé, Joey, and I have 2 dogs. A German shepherd named Chibbs and an Italian mastiff named Nora. Joeys brother, John, currently lives with us and we had an extra room so we decided to rent it out to one of Johns friends. He has lived with us for about 4 months and Joey and I don't really know a whole lot about him besides the fact that he doesn't really care for Chibbs. Chibbs is a year old so still in the puppy stage but he is a great dog! Gets a little rowdy playing but that's it. Well this morning I was about to leave for work and the roommate told me that Chibbs peed on the couch (WHICH HE NEVER DOES). We have a doggie door and he knows better. The only time Chibbs will pee in the house is if he is scared for being hit. So I only have reason to believe that he hit him because there is literally no explanation. I told my fiancé and he believes he did as well just based on how he has handled the dogs in the past. Let me know your opinions and give me some advice on what to do! It makes me so sad to think that my poor pup would be getting hit while we aren't home or asleep.

I can't say for sure he hit your dog but sounds like dog is def slightly afraid of him. I have a German shepherd and he only pees in house if there's fireworks going off. But he does get scared at even yelling at him. German shepherd are very eager to please their people. So maybe he is being sweet n dude is yelling n scaring him.

I had a neighbor who would come into my yard when we weren't home, and we don't know exactly what he did to my dogs but something was happening. My younger dog would go bonkers at our neighbor whenever he would walk by. Later, we saw my neighbor trying to shoot my dog with an air soft gun from across the street, and then we watched him walk by our house and chuck rocks over our fence. 
Dogs know much more than we do. If something seems wrong with your pup, I would counter the roommate and try and figure out what's going on. Beautiful shepherd by the way!

Your dog is beautiful. I think you should ask the roommate if he hit him. If he says no then explains why you think he is. If he says yes kick that asshole to the curb

I was with someone for years who disciplined dogs with physical touch. I absolutely disagree with it and I'm going to tell you why.

My former partner and I got a baby dachshund when he was six weeks old -- a little early weaned but he's healthy still going on four years. I decided to take the non-physical approach of training Toby, my dachshund. If he got in trouble he was hilariously verbally shamed -- I found that it worked.

My former partner thought hitting Toby on the butt was the best method of saying "bad dog". This continued, despite my pleas and Toby whimpering any time he was hit. Eventually, Toby started peeing around fast movements -- because of that fear response. Now, he has a permanent issue called "submissive urination." My dog has anxiety because he was hit, period.

Would you hit a person every time they did something you didn't like? Do you think they would be happy around people if they were consecutively hit?

Don't hit dogs. Just don't do it ever.

Well the dog is still young. Ask him more questions but dogs have accidents for many reasons. Maybe something outside spoked him so he didn't want to go out. Maybe it was frozen shut. Peeing on the couch doesn't mean they were hit.

If you know your dog and know he wouldn't have an accident unless he was scared then yes. I think he is hitting your dog. Maybe it's time to sit down with him and discuss him finding a new place to go if he doesn't care for the dogs.
