I'm an athiest, boyfriend's from a mjaorly christian (Previously catholic) family. We've been together 3 years this july. It really all depends on the people, I don't have any problem with him believing in God honestly I like that he has something or someone to look up to in times of need. And he doesn't have any problem with me being an athiest, he's actually quite fascinated by it. Most of the time we both just choose not to discuss our religions on a day to day basis just to avoid any arguments (We argued about the Big Bang Theory for 2 hours one time....It wasn't fun) and unneeded confrontation. But alot of the time when we do discuss religion we're open minded, and we have never once judged one another for being the religion (Or non religion) we each are.

My SO is a Christian and I was raised to be a Catholic, but I've identified as an Atheist since grade school. We have no problem talking religion; however, we both know what topics are sensitive for each other just like politics (which we have opposite views on too). We've been together 4 years and we're planning on eloping within the next two days, so I'm going to say we're going to last.

I am Christian. My fiance was Muslim when we started dating. He became a Christian after we got engaged but he wasn't pressured to. I didn't even ask him to. He came to this belief on his own.

That's very personal to each person.

I'm not religious at all and I couldn't be with anyone who was very religious. Our opinions would clash too much and when it comes to raising kids, I believe they should decide for themselves what to believe based on what calls to them and serves them well. Usually religious people will try to imprint their own beliefs on their children and I'd fight that tooth and nail.

I say as long as you discussed the hard stuff before marriage and came to an agreement. Before marriage I needed my husband to know we WILL be going to church once we have kids. He WILL be attending at least two services a month with us,...and so forth. We have our baby, and the only reason we skip church is cuz it gets to like -40 here and our baby is still considered newborn. Do safety first.

Well I'm catholic and my husbands family is Christian..although it's not a major difference I have heard passing comments about how Catholic traditions as outdated.,.... I find the traditions comforting..,,,

The kicker is that my Christian raised husband has been questioning his religion and is truly more atheist than anything right now....and it has mostly to do with his Christian parents being anti LGBTQ and such. I really love his parents, they are really excepting and loving but there are so many times where I feel like their talks are boarderline homophobic and racist...I have to really bite my tongue. The problem is our dinner conversations are 1000% more intelligent than my families. My families dinner conversations are about celebrities and getting their nails done....his are about politics, history and education....ugh I can win

My mom is catholic, my dad was deep southern baptist, they've been married 24 years.
I am catholic, my husband is non religious and we've been happily married almost 2 years. It can work as long as you are willing to be open to tolerate and respect one another's differences in beliefs. And to understand you may not be able to change that person or make them believe what you do. Just love and respect one another and let them practice what they believe and everything will be fine!

However, I did have one relationship end because my Protestant bf at the time could not accept our differences in religion. Even though I accepted him for who he was, his dad was a pastor and they did not accept me. They felt as though I was going down the wrong spiritual path and he wasn't comfortable being in a relationship with someone who didn't believe the same as him.

But as long as both people are open and accepting and loving, it'll all be fine.😊
