I was spanked as a child and will be spanking my children as well. With that being said there is an appropriate way to do so and a difference between spanking and abuse.

Depends on the situation at hand. Clearly im not going to spank my child if its someyhing minor and can be corrected without a spank. However if i say no or not to do something and they look at it and do it anyways quick pop and a sit down. Then explain why it happened and how do we not let it happen again. As long as i can explain to my child what happen for that to have been done and they leran from it. Thats where i stand.

It's a no for me. I was spanked as a child and it didn't teach me discipline, or why not to do something. Just to fear my parents. Obviously we've always had bad people in the world and people who don't know how to act so the declining trend of spanking in recent years didn't lead to "so many" disrespectful teens. Not to mention I think many are pretty ridiculous with their standards of respectfulness. This isn't 1950. I'm allowed to be sassy if I fucking want to, doesn't make me disrespectful.
