I will be traveling to México next month does anybody know if my 6 month old needs a passport?

Yes. And you must apply in person and will need a picture of your baby. You will probably have to pay to expedite. Average time to get a passport is 6 weeks.

Yes, you do. Both parents need to be present (or signed and notarized affidavit from non-present parent). Don't forget to bring copies of both parents Dribers License (front and back)! 
We went to Post Office that did walk-ins and almost every parent forgot that. Luckily there was copy store close by. We also had picture taken and PO for fee.  We expedited and it took almost 3 weeks exactly.
