adoption

So my husband and I have been TTC for almost 2 years. We are going to wait to get to May when it will be 2 years and then I think we are going to start looking into adoption. We have exhausted all our options that won't start costing us thousands of dollars and I know to come people it may not seem like we tried for a long time but it feels like it and I am emotionally spent. So just wondering if anyone knew the process, how long it takes, etc. thanks.
